Crochet Plaid Hand Towel

Crochet Plaid Hand Towel

This is my latest project, I am loving the plaid, though with tying all of the ends in it takes a long time to do!  I am making two washcloths to go with it and donating them to a silent auction for a group my hubby is in.  It will be interesting to see how much this goes for and if it will even cover the cost of the yarn.  In total I used about $8 worth of yarn!! (for the towel and 2 washcloths) not to mention the hours spent making it...   I dunno how people do this for a living!  (Probably way faster then me!)

I bought the yarn to do this in white and faded red and blue for a bit out a country look but my hubby says it will look too American.  I'm kicking myself because I totally didn't think of that!  Oh well maybe I'll make it anyway... Or ill use the red and get green for Christmas.

I have done a couple other types of crochet washcloths as well, but I gave them away before I thought of taking a picture... I guess that just means ill have to make more!

Here is where I got the idea and instructions to make this.

The Beginning

I am getting back into blogging for the first time since my Spain trip.  I am a terrible blogger.  I always forget to post, so I apologize in advance.  At the moment I am a stay at home mom with more time on my hands then I have had in a long while.  Don't get me wrong... I am still very busy with a attention loving 1 year old and his similarly dispositioned father. But I seem to have more time at home then ever before.  While sometimes I am slightly resentful that I am unable to go out and play sports and participate in other activities as I had in the past, my energies have been able to be applied to other things... crafty things.  While I definitely do not clam to be amazingly artistic, I am proud of the few small things I have been able to do and I would like to keep a record of them on this blog, even if its only for me.

I have a problem though.  It's not an unusual problem, but it's a frustrating one.  I get board of everything.  I cycle through interests like my husband cycles through TV channels. (Actually to be honest we don't even have cable, I just thought the simile worked nicely).  I can't seem to stay interested in anything long enough to get really good or to finish a huge project, and hobby collecting becomes expensive when every hobby I pick up has a whole new set of tools and materials I need to buy.  Sometimes I wish I was more like the lady on youtube who crochets a blanket by making one square every day of the year, but oh my word!! How does she care that long?!  I would last two weeks.  Maybe.

I dabble in just about everything.  From reading to music to sewing to basketball to... nerdy things that I'm not sure I'm willing to admit in public just yet.  In the past year since my son was born, I have done some photography, sewing, crocheting, I made bath bombs, Christmas cards, and I spent far too much time on my son's birthday decorations. I'm hoping this blog helps me with some goals and direction in my hobbies and I think it would be cool if I could inspire just one person to do something that they wouldn't normally do!

So... go ahead, check out my projects, read my oh-so-interesting babble, and let me know what you think!
